Scenario:
You work for an international company producing hardware and software for telecom networks. Hardware and software development is done in separate business units. You are the Test Manager of one of the network router software. In your product line, there is a long tradition of using an incremental lifecycle.

The hardware business unit produces a new version every six months. Software is developed in two-month increments. The business unit schedules are synchronized during design.

Your team consists of 15 testers, who have been in the company for two years or more. New tests are developed by the most experienced tester. Variations of tests and the regression test sets are run by the rest of the team.

The company management requires monthly progress reports listing the number of severe defects and the status of the test execution. Your company has also implemented CMMI on the company level. There have been problems to keep up with the hardware development schedule.

Your company originally has built an in-house automation tool as they anyway needed to build interfaces to drive test scripts against their system to fulfill all the telecom standard requirements.

Maintaining the in-house tool has gradually become very costly.

An open-source tool might provide you with some free time from your Test Automation execution. You need to consider several factors before making this decision. Which one of the following statements does not apply?

  1. Open-source tools are hard to be adapted.
  2. The licensing terms need to be understood.
  3. Telecom-standard compliance needs to be considered.
  4. Open-source tools have been created for a particular purpose.

Answer(s): A

How do you define the level of detail of the test conditions? Select the best 3 options available:

  1. The complexity of the System/Software
  2. No formal Requirement documents and other Artifacts are available.
  3. Designing the Acceptance Testing
  4. The Risk associated with the project
  5. Lightweight design methods are used.

Answer(s): A,D,E

You learned that a similar kind of product has been developed using an open-source tool that does 50% of its execution. The tool is being developed by some other team.

It is required to do the analysis of the tool and select it for your product as well. What will be your main concerns? Select any 3.

  1. Can your entire team member be able to learn this tool?
  2. How good is the support available for this tool?
  3. Is it possible to execute some of the test cases manually?
  4. What about security?
  5. How much time you have for rewriting your existing test cases?
  6. Will this tool is really going to help your team?

Answer(s): C,E,F

the correct answer to q8 is b. explanation since the mule app has a dependency, it is necessary to include project modules and dependencies to make sure the app will run successfully on the runtime on any other machine. source code of the component that the mule app is dependent of does not need to be included in the exported jar file, because the source code is not being used while executing an app. compiled code is being used instead.
